Biography
My name is Faye Elliott, I was born in Gloucester and have lived in the city for all of my 64 years. My parents and I lived in the Tuffley Prefabs until I was 10 years of age. I attended Grange Road Infants school and went from there to Whaddon Junior School. I was fortunate enough to pass the old 11 plus examination and further my education at Ribston Hall High School for girls.
Upon leaving school I worked at various local companies as a receptionist/typist/telephonist. Following my marriage and raising a family I became an NA at Gloucester Royal Hospital, Southgate Street. I later became a carer within Gloucester, for the elderly living in their own homes.
For over five years I campaigned for the anti-depressant drug Seroxat to be banned, due to the fact that there were many thousands of reports of patients suffering from side effects and horrendous withdrawal symptoms.
At present I work as a volunteer in a local charity shop in the City. I also campaign against fuel poverty, a very real issue which affects many people especially the elderly and disabled.
I am very passionate with regards to the deterioration of the City and surrounding areas. Gloucester is an historic City and I believe that more could be done to encourage tourists to the City, and for the residents, which would boost our local economy.
