Why I'm standing
I believe that decision making is in the hands of far too few people. Petitions are treated with contempt and people deserve to have more say in their governance. As an Independent I would do my utmost to ensure that the people of Gloucester were given a greater say over the decisions which affect their lives.
Independent councillors, free from political dogma, can only improve local accountability and democracy. Democracy is ultimately about people and not Institutions.
Party politics interferes with decision making and the good governance of our city and our county. More Independent councillors will help to redress this to a certain extent but I would support more local decision-making powers and direct democracy.
As an Independent I would not toe any party line – my only masters would be the people of Grange, Kingsway & Quedgeley.
